life may not be perfect
Sep. 18th, 2008 07:40 amThe divine bettyscout scored 2 comp tickets to the opening of Rock 'n' Roll and took me along. We were in the nosebleed section -- in fact, in the very last row of the second balcony -- but it was still fabulous.
I knew it would be at least OK, because Tom Stoppard is always at least OK. But in fact: ZOMG. So good.
As bettyscout observed, the lighting used for the transitions between scenes was a little heavy-handed. But there really wasn't much else to complain about. There was a scene in the first half that made me cry, numerous moments that made me laugh out loud, brilliant dialog throughout, the usual crazy Stoppard melange of themes and ideas, and a romantic happy ending. *satisfied sigh*
I could wish I'd had a little more energy (and nothing much planned for the morrow) since we snuck into the opening party and could have stayed up (really) late drinking martinis if so inclined. But as it was I faded fast.
OK, now on to the next adventure.
