not so smart

So I had this notion that if I was going to be in this absurdly huge space, and since it just happens that I own a hammock, that I ought to hang it. My one truly frivolous, only-in-a-loft decor idea. And even though I was succeeding in filling the space without it, and was starting to think that it would be better not to crowd the space too much, I kept toying with the idea, and when I saw a cheap hammock stand online I impulsively bought it (even though it came with another hammock).

Well... The stand is cheap in part because it's flimsy, it isn't really the right size for the pretty hammock that I already owned (the one I tried to give to K&K, but they never used it and eventually gave it back), and it does take up way too much space.

It was a cute idea, but... not really a good one.

And I am really bad about returning things. In this case, the item is large and awkward and the box that it came in was falling apart. So even the idea of repacking it for shipment is daunting.

It makes me yearn for garage or basement space where I could just hide it for a couple of years until it seemed less embarrassing. *sigh*

Anybody need a hammock or two?
