A couple of my friends have this meme in their LJs:

Copy this sentence into your LiveJournal if you're in a heterosexual marriage, and you don't want it "protected" by the bigots who think that gay marriage hurts it somehow.

Randomly surfing, I found this version on a total stranger's blog:

Copy this sentence into your livejournal if you’re in a heterosexual marriage/relationship (or if you think you might be someday), and you don’t want it “protected” by the bigots who think that gay marriage hurts it somehow.

Naturally, I like the latter version, because I don't feel left out. But I suspect it sounds weaker than the former.

I think, too, that the point is that it's us married heterosexuals who are presumed to feel that the validity of our [legal contract?] is threatened by gay marriage.
