Apr. 4th, 2009 02:05 pmMost likely everyone has seen this by now, but nevertheless: It is quite interesting to read this NY Times article from 1999 about deregulation of the banking industry -- in particular, noting who voted against, and also that at least one Senator quite accurately predicted the eventual debacle.
In more recent news: I can't find any corroboration, but I swear that the first version I heard (on NPR) of the story about G20 protestors breaking windows at the Royal Bank of Scotland said that they broke the windows with *golf clubs*. Perhaps I misheard. Then again, it was April first, so perhaps the NPR announcer was kidding. Or maybe it was true, but only I and one lone NPR announcer have a warped enough sense of humor to consider it noteworthy!
