maker faire was excellent...
May. 31st, 2009 07:35 pm...despite forgetting my camera.
And having some stress at the start about finding parking.
And having utterly failed to coordinate with anyone that I might have liked to hang out with there.
As usual, the kinetic sculptures were my favorite.
I finally went through Neverwas Haul, which was not actually exciting enough to warrant the time in line, but the time in line was intrinsically entertaining (between people-watching, chatting with other people in line, and the occasional odd pedal- and/or steam- and/or robot-driven vehicle passing by). Ditto for the time spent in line to get ice cream.
I bought some fingerless gloves for $26, and refrained from spending $260 on a butterfly-shaped convertable pack/purse thing.
Ran into one person from work, one person I used to work with, and one person who I recognized as being a friend-of-friends and introduced myself to. Did not run into sundry other folks that I'd vaguely hoped to see.
Slightly regretted not going on Saturday, since the fire stuff is more fun if you can see it after dark. Ah well, there's always the Crucible Fire Arts Festival yet to come.
Also slightly regretted not dressing up. Not that I have the proper full-on steampunk ensemble.
I really wonder what they're going to do next year, I don't think San Mateo is big enough anymore.
