endorphins, good

I spent the morning and early afternoon poking around on Dice and Monster and forcing myself to actually apply for things, rather than just tell myself I should come back and do that later. Although a good, productive thing to do, this was not actually fun or cheering. I am just feeling discouraged about my prospects of finding something that will pay enough to maintain my current lifestyle.

On the plus side, just as I was running out of patience, it occurred to me that I could go to Sibley this afternoon. One of my favorite hikes is from Sibley to Redwood and back, along the East Bay Ridge trail. I hadn't actually done this for quite a while, probably more than a couple of years, since: a) last summer I was in SF, and it seemed like a long way, and b) the summer before was when my knees were really playing up. Turns out this is another thing that it (pleasantly) surprisingly close to where I live now, only 6 miles (and no freeway).

The hike was probably more than I sensibly should have tried, since I've mostly been walking on the flats and there is a lot of down & up involved. I think it's about 3 miles each way, I'd have to check. Today it took me about an hour and 20 minutes out, and close to an hour and a half back (with 20 minutes rest at the Redwood trailhead).

But anyway, I did it, and I enjoyed it, and I don't think I hurt myself. And now I have a lovely endorphin buzz.

And got home to find a couple of job-hunting response more-info-please type emails, which is nice. But I shall work on my replies tomorrow, thank you very much.
