This evening, I am planning to attend a vintage waltz dance party hosted by my dance instructor. There is a lesson at the beginning (which I will also attend, because I can still use all the lessons I can get).

Those of you who do not have other plans for this evening should come along :)

In related news, my dance instructor is also selling twirly skirts and costumey bits on Etsy, and is using me as a model / reference body for "plus" size items. This basically means I tried on one of her skirts, she took some pictures of me in it, and also took my measurements to use while making additional items. I'm not sure whether I get a discount, but if I buy anything from her I will know it will fit perfectly! And she's a fun person to hang out with, anyway. So if any of you (particularly larger women) think that sounds like something you would want to do, I will introduce you.

I am amused that the vintage waltz dance party is taking place at the Finnish Hall. Why? Because the Finnish Hall is right around the corner from Berkeley Aikikai - so all my memories of being there are of being there for the weapons portions of large seminars (too many people with too many weapons to fit in the dojo proper). I've spent hours in that hall doing nothing even remotely like waltzing ;)
