apropos of nothing
Jul. 3rd, 2004 10:14 amThings are good, have had a busy and pleasant week.
Wednesday: Late lunch with Ilen, chiropractic appointment in Berkeley, then went to see 21 Dog Years (which was hysterically funny, and has BTW been extended through August at the Berkeley Rep, I recommend it highly). And since there was time after lunch, I rather impulsively stopped in Emeryville and bought a huge ceramic pot in which to plant my kumquat tree -- impulsive in the sense that I had been planning to wait until I was employed, but hey, it was 30% off in the grand opening sale and besides, the kumquat tree really needs to be repotted.
Thursday: Dropped off car at shop, lunch with Eva, came home and lazed. Finished re-reading the Harry Potter books. Watched two recently acquired DVDs, Pieces of April (tearjerker) and Edward Scissorhands (to cheer me up, right?).
Friday: Picked up car (now with functional driver side window, yay!), drove over to the Legion of Honor to see the Art Deco show, then hiked in Lincoln Park (which happens to be one of my absolute favorite places in SF). As usual, the parking near the Legion was hellish, so when I was leaving, I finally did what I've been meaning to do for eons: I drove further down to scout out the parking lot at the other end of Lincoln Park, so next time I can just head there.
Note the theme in all of this: no getting up early and moving fast in the AM. So you see, I really am taking advantage of having time off work!
Plans for today: shopping to include buying potting soil (the better to use the aforementioned pot). Some life-maintenance stuff: groceries, take trash out (before the dumpster fills again -- also should complain to property managers about the fact that they really need an extra dumpster during the summer, since they've decided to have all the leases begin and end during a 3-month interval and predictably, people who are moving make lots of trash).
Not too much specific planned for the rest of the weekend, waiting to see what comes up. I definitely will go somewhere for fireworks on the 4th, perhaps walk down to Jack London Square...
