I am incapable of singing the Sussex Mummers Carol without crying, which kind of screws up my ability to keep singing, but it's still wonderful. And I don't want it to lose the effect it has on me, so I try pretty hard to *not* let it get into the playlist in my head, because it's something I want to only experience once a year.
Abbots Bromley is indeed a beautiful tune, which is why I hope I won't wear it out!
I'm with you about the Sussex Mummers Carol, and Dona Nobis Pacim too. Actually, a lot of the music at Revels makes me tear up; this year in particular, all the mournful Irish tunes just grabbed me that way.
And it was really lovely running into you there :)
I have a very special place in my heart for the Abbott's Bromley. So many good memories of being out at Blackpointe in the morning and seeing the Brunos dance solemnly up the road. The last time I saw the Brunos the Abbott's Bromley was at Northern Ren Faire a couple of years ago and it was the first time in ages and I burst into smooshy nostalgic tears.
