mind all a'buzz
Sep. 1st, 2004 11:51 amIt is very pleasant to be feeling optimistic about getting a job offer soon, even if thinking about it did keep me awake for a while last night...
Of course, it is still possible that I might get two job offers soon, which is a lovely concept but actually a wee bit more stressful. In a head-to-head comparison, the key parts of these two jobs are just about inverse: an exciting, dynamic young company vs. a corporate environment bound to drive me mad on occasion; a hellish commute by car vs. a fairly civilized BART ride; learning something new and exciting vs. a problem space where I could extend my current skills (and not be seen as a novice). The only thing I can say they have in common is that I liked the people at both places.
It is also possible both might fall through, so I can't get too excited yet.
Meanwhile, I am trying to work on the contract gig, suffering a certain amount of attention deficit, and generally having my nose rubbed in how much I have adapted to being unemployed and therefore having very little to do & all the time in the world to do it in. Not that I've liked it so much, but I sure have gotten used to it. So a week that involves a half-day job interview, working at least 30 hours, a planned 3 trips to Mountain View to check on Bella kitty, and one or two social events, just seems impossibly full.
I know, I know, I am so spoiled. In my defense, I have not been feeling well (sinus foo / low-grade fever) which does tend to make ordinary chores loom large.
Well, back to work...
