not a natural social butterfly
Sep. 26th, 2004 11:14 amSometimes, social stuff just feels like work to me.
Yesterday, I went to PeterMe's birthday bash, which was intermittently quite fun in between the too-frequent moments when I didn't know anybody and felt awkward and couldn't find my way into any of the conversations swirling around me and kept almost deciding to leave. Today, I'm about to head off to the BayCHI Volunteers picnic, which I anticipate will be much the same.
I guess if I keep practicing, it will get easier. I mean, it is easier now than when I was 13. But you'd think that 30 years later, I'd have reached the stage where it isn't any effort at all.
*sigh*
