the shape of the weekend

jaeclecticThe weekend is laden with many chores. And I'm getting a very slow start on any of it: woke up at 7:30, which was actually plenty of sleep, but declined to get up, instead cuddled up to the kitties and drifted off for another hour and a half.
First and foremost, I need to vote. Which means figuring out which of the umpty-ump friggin ballot propositions I actually want to try to figure out enough to vote on. And then filling out my absentee ballot, and then walking to the local voter registration office to turn it in, because I don't trust the USPS to be timely.
(Actually, I did manage to read the voter guides on BART, and then yesterday checked out recommendations at a couple of likely progressive sites (e.g. Green Party), which was comforting since they seem to agree with what I had tentatively chosen. So the figuring-out part is really mostly done, I am just whining retroactively.)
Then need to attack some portion of a full slate of life-maintenance chores. Everything is overdue to the point of crisis and/or disgust: groceries, laundry, vacuuming (unholy combination of cat hair, my hair, dust bunnies, kitty litter, carpet fuzz, and shreds of cardboard from the cat-scratcher strewn *everywhere*), et cetera et cetera ad nauseum.
And then there's halloween, as in: I need a to throw together a costume. My only actual idea was to be the Angelina Jolie character from Sky Captain, but I don't think I can pull it off at this stage (and besides, I lack confidence).
I did find last year's contact lenses, which may or may not be usable. And I do have a wig that I bought last year and didn't use. But that isn't quite enough. I'm thinking maybe something zombie-ish -- perhaps a stop at the halloween store in Berkeley will provide some other inspiration, otherwise, I can surely get some nasty green makeup there...
And if all that miraculously gets done, there are the less urgent chores left over from last weekend's list...
But hey, going out on halloween should be fun (even if I do have to get up early the next morning to start my second week of PSFT training)...
