as it happens...
Nov. 15th, 2004 07:57 pm...I really enjoyed this weekend.
Finally seem to be over the sinus foo, to the point where I can wake up in the morning and feel like getting up instead of just wanting to roll over and hide under the covers. Which meant that I was able to do the essential life maintenance and a few non-essential errands AND have a (quasi) social life...
Saturday, I went to IKEA in the AM, which had been planned and put off for about 4 weeks now. The main objective was to buy a coat tree, but I was in a perfect IKEA-shopping mood and wandered around picking up random household items and xmas fripperies and thinking "ooh, this is cool, and it's only 3$, I'll buy 2!". Very fun.
Then went and spent about 7 hours assisting Ben with apartment painting, which was more fun than it sounds due to the good company -- mostly folks I've sort of met (been at the same table with, maybe) but not really talked to before: Gwen, Stef & Badger, Chase, other names escape me. I was particularly charmed by Gwen, we had lots of giggles, must figure out who she is on LJ. (For the record, she is exactly the kind of girl who reminds me why I go for girls sometimes... in a strictly abstract, yes-I-know-she's-married kind of way, I hasten to add).
Then Sunday, managed to get the base essential life maintenance chores (AKA laundry and grocery shopping) done in the AM before heading into SF for James' birthday brunch. Another lovely crew: Gen & Tom, Jamie, Zabet, Ben (twice in one weekend!), and of course the birthday boy (wearing black / pinstripes not plaid, for the record).
And got home in time to get a couple computer chores done (installed new version of quicken, connected new hard drive) and still have a lazy evening: didn't finish folding the laundry, or even assemble the coat tree, just cuddled up with the kitties and watched a movie.
*sigh of contentment*
