The election of Obama seems incredibly important -- not that I think he is perfect, or can fix anything overnight, but at least it gives me hope (whereas the opposite prospect filled me with despair).
On the other hand, various dear friends of mine are apparently about to have their civil rights written out of the CA constitution. It's very hard to face.
(Technically, as a bisexual person, the right to marry a person of the same gender could apply to me, but at this stage of my life, the idea of marriage seems abstract and unlikely when applied to myself, so I feel it more as it relates to my friends.)
