Well, it's not a nice ultra-light late-model laptop, but it's a heck of a lot better than the "portable" that I owned in 1981 or so :)
I am going to be in a hotel which might turn out to be right next to an internet cafe, but who knows? I know in the hotel I can either pay for broadband access in the room, or test out whether the wireless card actually works since there is supposed to be free wireless internet in the "public areas" of the hotel.
I am leaning towards taking it along. I haven't owned a laptop for a few years, and I am thinking about buying one this year, so it will be a good reminder of what it's like to travel with one.
Take the laptop and if you want to check out an ultra portable, we should meet up for coffee and I'll show you my supremely small, 3.1 pound, Sony laptop.
I was tempted to go Mac but the ibooks and powerbooks are too heavy.
That would be great (both the show & tell aspect, and just the general concept of meeting for coffee sometime :)
I too have occasionally pondered the switch to Mac, but I don't think I'm quite ready. The other question is whether I should keep my current desktop and use it as a server, or sell it, or give it to charity... but there's no rush.
